Brazilian British fashion designer
Lena Santana introduces you to her world of reinvention, and shares some of her professional tips. This goes way beyond simply adding a few sequins and trims!
Learn to look at familiar garments through new eyes, and to deconstruct, embellish and transform them into intriguing new pieces. Bring in some of your own clothes to work on - a dress that needs to be cut up, tucked in, adapted or added to - and record your progress with a camera, to create your own research library of ideas to take away with you too.
Saturday will concentrate on sewing techniques. You will practice various hand and machine-sewing methods including how to put in a zip, four different types of hems, and how to take accurate measurements to adapt a basic pattern to your own size.
Sunday will focus on customising the garments you have brought in to create fresh ones.
