This is for you!
These short courses are aimed at beginners, and will introduce you to the essentials of fashion sewing, taking you through various key techniques and applying them the process of making up a simple skirt. You will:
- Become familiar with hand-stitching techniques for preparing a garment to be sewn
- Practice using a sewing machine, and how to put in a zip
- Master four different types of hems
- Make a pattern from a simple block
- Learn how to take accurate measurements
- Work through the process of cutting out, constructing and finishing a skirt
Choose from our intensive fashion sewing weekend to get your sewing techniques up to scratch or our 6-week evening course which includes an introduction to basic dressmaking and customising.

Weekend
Saturday & Sunday 17 & 18 April, 10.30- 4.30
Course fees: £225.00, materials £10.00*
*The evening course requires students to bring an item of clothing to customise.
*We provide all materials and equipment needed for this course including sewing equipment, pattern paper, calico, a starter sewing pack for you to keep and basic fabric to make your skirt from. Students can bring fabric of there own choice, if they require.
