Discover keum-boo, the ancient art of fusing 24 ct gold to silver, and play with other gilding and surface decoration techniques including patination and burnishing.
This experimental weekend workshop explores the possibilities for using gold leaf and foil to enrich surfaces, create textural and graphic effects, and add a new colour palette and value to works in silver. An economical way to begin to work in gold!
You will come away with a whole new repertoire of ideas and techniques to enrich your jewellery designs. You will:
- Learn to fuse 24 ct gold overlay to silver
(keum boo)
- Apply leafs and foils to metal and other materials
- Create texture with hammering and the rolling mill
- Master simple patination and burnishing techniques
Some knowledge of basic jewellery-making skills would be an advantage, but is not necessary for this course.
