Master the delicate art of fabricating hollow beads from sterling silver, in this highly enjoyable one day course. You will learn how to make three dimensional forms in sheet metal, add texture and detail, and join and finish the pieces to create lovely, and very personal, decorative adornments.
By the end of the day you will have one or more beautiful beads which can either be threaded on the silver chain provided to make a pendant, created in matching pairs to make ear rings, turned into a pin brooch or used as an element for a ring or bracelet. You will:
- Practice the use of dapping punches and the dapping block
- Use a rolling mill to texture sheet metal
- Learn how make a tube rivet
- Discover how to solder a hollow object correctly
- Experiment with a variety of finishing techniques
This workshop is geared towards students who have had some experience of basic jewellery making techniques.
